A LITTLE GUIDANCE GOES A LONG WAY

Your first video,
step by step.

Everything you need to turn a piece of writing into a narrated portrait video, from your first idea to your final download.

First, make yourself at home.

Create an account with your email and a password, or sign in if you already have one. Your account is where your drafts, projects, and generated videos live.

  1. Start a new video and paste your source content.
  2. Generate an English script, then review and edit it.
  3. Choose a voice and generate the narration and preview.
  4. Review the video, export the MP4, and download it when it is ready.

Start with one clear idea.

Paste the actual text of a post, article, newsletter, or your own notes into the content field. The title is optional: leave it blank and Speevid will suggest one with your script. Review or edit it in the next step, or choose Suggest another title. A focused idea usually makes a clearer short video than several unrelated topics.

Source links and attribution

The source URL and author fields are optional attribution. A URL does not fetch or import an article, so paste the content you want to use separately. Only use material you own or have permission to adapt, and check that any attribution is correct.

Choosing a target length

The target duration guides script generation. The final running time follows the actual narration, so it can differ from the target. To make a video shorter, shorten the script and generate the voice again.

Read it like you would say it.

Select Generate narration script to get a draft English narration based on your source. Read through it before moving on: check facts, names, claims, and whether the story says what you mean.

You can edit the script directly, or write your own. Short sentences, a clear opening, and one main takeaway help the video feel natural. Generating another script replaces the current script, so finish reviewing your wording before creating the voice.

A useful test: read the script aloud once. If a sentence feels awkward to say, simplify it before generating narration.

Choose your presenter and voice.

Choose the male or female illustrated presenter in the script step. This changes who appears on screen, including the opening and ending. Your narrator voice is chosen separately; switching the character keeps existing narration and saved scene edits. Older projects use the original male presenter.

Use Listen beside Guy, Jenny or Sonia to compare a short English sample. Listening does not change your chosen narrator or regenerate your video. Stop the sample at any time; only one plays at once. If a sample cannot load, try again. Choose one of the three English voices, then select Generate voice & preview. Speevid creates the narration and uses its timing to arrange the on-screen text. While a script, title or voice is generating, keep this page open: refreshing or leaving may interrupt the request. The elapsed timer shows how long you have waited, not how much time remains. Export jobs can continue after you leave.

When to generate the voice again

Changing the source text resets the generated script and voice. Review or regenerate the script, then generate a new voice. Editing or suggesting a new title preserves your script, but requires new narration because the title is spoken separately. Editing the spoken script or selected voice requires new narration before exporting. Changing the author or source attribution does not require a new voice.

Editing a scene

In Preview & export, watch your video first, then choose Edit scenes to open the optional scene editor. On phones, the video appears before the editing controls. Folding the editor keeps your unfinished changes. Select a content scene to edit. The preview pauses at that scene. Edit its heading or key text, or choose a layout supported by the narration. These edits change the visuals only; check that they still match the spoken content. Number statements keep their values, units and qualifiers, and steps keep their narration order.

Your changes appear in the preview immediately. Choose Save scene to keep them, or Discard changes to return to the last saved scene. Save or discard before switching away or exporting. A failed save keeps your input for retry. The header shows Scene not saved while scene edits are pending, even if your source draft has already saved. If another tab saved a newer version, load the latest scenes and review them before saving again.

Reworking a scene

Use Rework graphic layout with AI to ask AI for another presentation of the selected scene. Save or discard any unfinished edit first. A failed rework preserves the previous visual. Editing or reworking a scene keeps your audio, subtitles and video duration. Changes belong to this project; earlier exports remain unchanged. Changing the title, script or voice can rebuild the scenes, so the workspace warns before discarding manual scene work.

What the preview shows

The preview combines the illustrated presenter with content-aware scenes: numbers, steps, comparisons, connections and key ideas. Check pronunciation, pacing, scene text, and the opening and ending. The public examples include narrated exported videos and silent interactive template previews. Watch the complete focused-work example or product introduction with sound. Your workspace preview includes the voice you generate.

Give each scene the right visual.

Use graphics to explain numbers, steps or connections, and illustrations where a picture helps tell the story; every scene does not need an image. When illustrations are enabled, select a scene in Edit scenes and choose Illustration. Generate one illustration from the scene description, or upload a PNG, JPEG or WebP image up to 10 MiB and 16 megapixels. If AI image generation is not configured, uploads remain available while illustrations are enabled. Generation runs in the background, so you can leave and return to check its status. A failed generation keeps your saved visual.

A prepared image is a candidate, not a saved change. Select the image you want, adjust its camera movement and focus, then choose Save scene to apply it. Choose Discard changes to restore the saved scene, or Graphic and save to return to its graphic layout. These visual changes keep your narration, subtitles and running time; earlier exports keep their original images.

Ready? Make the final video.

Select Export MP4 after reviewing your narrated preview. Speevid saves the current version and adds a rendering job. You can follow its progress from your project while the video is being prepared.

Once the job is complete, download your video and cover image. The video is a portrait 1080 × 1920 MP4 with a 9:16 aspect ratio. Upload the downloaded file to your preferred publishing platform.

An export uses the version you approved when you started it. Later edits do not change a video already in the queue. To include new edits, refresh the voice if needed and export a new video.

Pick up where you left off.

Draft changes save automatically to your account. Watch the save status before closing a tab or switching away, especially after a connection interruption.

Open your projects to continue a draft or revisit a finished video. Use a new project for a different idea. Your account keeps projects separate from other users, and you can sign in on another device to access them.

Search projects by title, archive finished work to keep Active projects tidy, and restore it from Archived whenever needed. Archiving preserves existing export history; it does not delete your content. Signing out ends your current session. If a session expires, sign in again to continue. Avoid sharing your password; each person should use their own account.

A small bump along the way?

The script or voice could not be generated.

Check the message shown in the editor. Make sure your source or script is filled in, that you are still signed in, and that your connection is working. Retry after a brief pause. If the generation service is temporarily unavailable, your saved project lets you return later.

The preview does not include my latest edits.

Changes to spoken content need a new voice generation. Select Generate voice & preview again and review the updated result.

The export is queued or failed.

A queued job is waiting for the rendering service. Check its status before starting another export. If it fails, review the displayed error, reopen the project, and retry when the service is available. Rendering takes time; waiting alone does not mean a job has failed.

My edits are not saving.

Keep the page open and check your connection and session. If prompted, sign in again. Wait for the saved status before leaving the project.
